[BALI] Batu Belig, Seminyak - The New "Tourist Trap"

"Main thoroughfare of a fashionable beachside district known for Western & Balinese food & fashion."

That's what Google said of Batu Belig area. And to me, when a Balinese area is already dotted with shops and boutiques, to the point it gets a "fashionable" label, and it boasts lots of "Western & Balinese food" options, well, it must be a new "Tourist Trap Spot" then.

So yea, Batu Belig is the new Seminyak (although technically, it's still in Seminyak). The hype of Bali finally creeps further north, and this time around it goes even faster because actually the hip has reached Canggu just adjacent to Batu Belig. The newly-throbbing area stretches from the junction where Petitenget Street made its left turn to southern Seminyak, all the way to Batu Belig Beach just at the west end of the road. Some even still consider the rest of Petitenget Street as the extension of Batu Belig, where it all finally ends in the intersection leading to Kerobokan/Umalas which locals refer to as "Lio Square".

Now back to this Batu Belig street, which is also considered as Batu Belig area. From Lio Square to Batu Belig Beach, and even some part of northern Seminyak that share borders with Batu Belig and Petitenget, you'll get to see lots of eating places, hotels, shops (though I might not be able to recommend any because honestly, I never went to Bali for shopping), and many more! It is definitely not as tourist heavy as Seminyak, but not so much far and loose the way Canggu lives -- Batu Belig is just perfectly balanced!
